Founded in 1946, Jilin University is a national key comprehensive university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education, and one of the first batch of key universities listed under both “Project 985” and “Project 211”. In 2017, it was selected as one of the first “Double First-Class” Type-A universities. In the second list of “Double First-Class” universities and disciplines published in 2022, six disciplines of the university have been listed.
The university has a wide range of disciplines, covering 13 subjects including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agronomy, medicine, management, arts and interdisciplinary disciplines. It has a complete talent training system covering bachelor, master and doctor’s degree, with a total number of more than 70,000 students. It has over 600,000 alumni from all over the world, with the number of outstanding alumni ranking 10th among Chinese universities. Its excellent graduates have been widely recognized by the community both at home and abroad. Focusing on outperforming the “Double First-Class” goal, the university has continuously optimized its global cooperation network by establishing partnerships with 302 universities and research institutions in 40 countries and regions.
The bilateral program provides full or partial scholarships in accordance with agreements or consensus reached on educational cooperation and exchanges between China and relevant countries’ governments, institutions, schools as well as international organizations.
I. Supporting Categories, Duration, Majors and Languages of Instruction
1. Supporting Categories: undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students, as well as general and senior advanced students. For detailed information, please contact the international student dispatching department of your home country.
2. Languages of Instruction: The teaching language for undergraduates is Chinese. For postgraduate and advanced students, Chinese is the main teaching language, while some majors can be taught in English.
If applicants for a bachelor’s degree or general and senior advanced program choose Chinese as the teaching language, they should have a Chinese proficiency level of HSK (Level 3) at the time of application. Applicants for a master’s or doctoral degree who choose Chinese as the teaching language should have a Chinese proficiency level of HSK (Level 4) at the time of application.

III. Application Time and Channels
Candidates should submit applications to the international student dispatching department of their home country (usually the Education and Culture Department of Chinese embassies and consulates overseas) within the time limit. The application time is generally from early January to April. For the specific date, please contact the international student dispatching department of your home country.
IV. Eligibility
1. A citizen of a country other than the PRC and in good health both physically and mentally;
2. Education and Age Requirements:
●An academically excellent holder of high school diploma under the age of 25 when applying for an undergraduate program;
● An academically excellent holder of a Bachelor’s degree under the age of 35 when applying for a Master’s program;
●An academically excellent holder of a Master’s degree under the age of 40 when applying for a doctoral program;
●A holder of high school diploma under the age of 45 when applying for general advanced students’ programs;
●A holder of master degree or associate professorship under the age of 50 when applying for a senior advanced students’ programs;

V. Application Process
1. An applicant shall contact the international student dispatching department of their home country for information such as the application time and the agency number.
2. An applicant shall log into the Online Application System of China Scholarship Council (http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org), click on the “online student registration entrance” icon to enter, fill out and submit the application form online, and print the Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form. Please choose Jilin University as your first choice. The agency number of Jilin University is “10183”.
3. An applicant shall submit the application materials to the international student dispatching department of their home country within the time limit.
VI. Admission and Notification
1. China Scholarship Council will review the qualification of applicants.
The materials of unqualified applicants or application documents will not be accepted.
2. The approved application materials will be sent to relevant university for admission.
China Scholarship Council is entitled to adjusting the university major, funding category and duration of the scholarship chosen by applicants according to the requirements of each country, the acceptance capacity of the host university, the duration of majors, and the qualification of applicants. Whether to admit the applicants will be determined by the acceptance university.
Schools may suggest applicants to change their applied majors according to the application materials and other actual conditions, and contact applicants through the e-mail address provided by them. Applicants shall pay close attention to the e-mail.
3. Scholarship recipients shall make confirmation.
Applicants who have been admitted by schools with scholarship will be awarded Chinese Government Scholarships only if they have been approved by the China Scholarship Council and passed the review of schools and physical examination.
Each scholarship recipient can only be supported by one Chinese Government Scholarship Program.
4. The admission documents shall be delivered to the students themselves.
China Scholarship Council will send the Letter of Admission and Visa Application Form for Foreign Students in China (Form JW201) to the Chinese Embassy (or General Consulate) in the homeland of applicants. Then, the letter will be delivered to the international student dispatching department or the students themselves.
5. Scholarship recipients are not allowed to change their study information.
Scholarship recipients are not allowed to change the admission institution, major and duration of study on the Letter of Admission.
6. Scholarship recipients shall be sure to come to China within the time limit on the Letter of Admission.
Except for force majeure, the scholarship eligibility will not be retained if the students cannot come to China within the time limit on the Letter of Admission.
VII. Enrollment Time
Undergraduate and postgraduate program will start at September 2023, general and senior advanced program will start at March or September 2023.
